Whodunnit?
Mystery. Intrigue. Venetian Renaissance times… Was it Giorgione or Titian?
It is done by the hand of a Great Maestro. Venetian. Confident. Independent. Talented. Within the circle of the Venetian Patricians who commissioned paintings of such ambiguous subject matter. Etheral, poetic, rustic. The brushstrokes, the landscape, the colours, the elegance, the quiet beauty.
Giorgione. Definitely Giorgione. I must agree with Bernard Berenson.
Although alas, Titian is supposedly to have trained in Giorgione’s studio. So… it could be an early Titian… Hm, speculation.
No, Giorgione. Definitely Giorgione.
